This is my latest finished piece. It is a Chakra necklace. The intention is to use it to help visualize the spinning energy of each Chakra while meditating.
It is hand made. Each ring spins through a vertical axis and is smooth and shiny on one side and carved with symbols representing that chakra on the back. The beads also spin but on a horizontal axis.
As I'm sure you can tell already, I have a penchant for celtic designs. I just love the symbolism of the claddagh ring.
According to Wikipedia: "The Claddagh's distinctive design features two hands (one male, one female) clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown)."
I also love the idea of interlocking rings worn as wedding rings. To me, that adds to the symbolism: two lives coming together to make one.

Send out the cad file to be prototyped.
It is then "grown" in a rapid prototyping machine. There are various processes but for basic idea, check out this video. It is a promotional video for a product from Rio Grande but it explains the process.

This is what the prototype model looks like.
After you have the prototype model, it can then be cast using the typical lost wax casting method.
