Malissa Kuznicki received her M.F.A. in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Bowling Green State University and a B.A. in Digital Art from the University of Toledo. Her work has been included in various national and international exhibitions including the 2016 Saul Bell Design Awards, Ohio Designer Craftsmen Best of 2018, and the Beijing International Jewelry Art Exhibition. Her work was also featured on the cover of Metalsmith magazine’s “Exhibition in Print 2017: Repair and Renewal: Making Things Whole Again.”
Malissa started her professional life as a mechanical designer and worked in both the automotive and aerospace industries before pursuing her art degree. Her process embraces an interdisciplinary approach utilizing sculptural processes, traditional metalsmithing techniques as well as emerging technologies such as 3d printing and laser cutting. Malissa uses a variety of media including metal, glass, plastic, cement, rubber, and silicone. While the majority of her work is worn on or interacts with the body she also creates work involving installation and performance.
